January 2020 has kicked off to a good start on ABC as the world has tuned in to watch Jeopardy Greatest of All Time match between what society has deemed to be the most successful Jeopardy Champions of all Time. On Tuesday, January 14th, Ken Jennings was crowned the Greatest of All Time Jeopardy with a 1 million dollar prize and a title for the ages. The contestants competed in a series of games and the first contestant to 3 wins the tournament.

On the right we have Brad Rutter, best known for winning the most money in any game show EVER. His Jeopardy winnings total to a whopping 4.6 million. What is more shocking about his winnings is the fact that at the time he initially competed there was a five game limit on the game. He had participated in multiple All Stars Jeopardy matches but this might just be the match he is unable to meet, only losing to the computer operated Watson.  Out of the three games that have been played, Rutter has placed last consistently. In match two on January 8th he could not even play Double Jeopardy because his earnings were in the negative. The shock with this result is the fact that Rutter walked into the match with the most prestigious reputation as people were betting he would be the one to take home the prize. 

In the middle we have Ken Jennings, holding the record for the longest winning streak on Jeopardy! With 74 wins, and the highest earning contestant in regular play winnings. Jennings was reluctant to come back to the game given his age, and the fact that he had lost to Rutter each time they faced one another in a match. But knowing the conditions of Alex Trebek, he knew it would be one of his last chances to come back to play as a Jeopardy contestant. After winning 3 million on Jeopardy, Jennings retired from his career as a computer software engineer and pursued his life-long dream of being a writer.

Holzhauer is the most recent Jeopardy champion, and takes the third slot of the highest earning $ 2,712,216.00. He holds the top 16 single game scores in Jeopardy history. He is known for his betting technique that is different from his opponents. Granted, is occupation is a professional sports gambler, so his skill is to be expected. 

In the first match, Jennings won with Holzhauer in a close second but Jennings took the winning with 63,400. The next day Holzhauer won with a total of 82,414. Then Day 3 it was as if tug of war was being played between between James and Ken as Jennings won again with a total of 67,600. Jennings took it home in Match 4 wagering 0 dollars in round 2 of double Jeopardy, shocking the audience but serving him well as he got the correct answer and James did not. The results of the match dampened the reputation Brad Rutter held going into the tournament, but helped to boost the notion that Ken Jennings has still got it. 

Regardless of how the matches went, all three men were able to prove their amazing intelligence and just how far that intelligence can take them!
