Albany High’s First Home Football Game

The Falcons’ first ever varsity football game to be played on school grounds

Everyone came out Saturday evening, from the school board, to community members and teachers, to students and family members, to see Albany take on CBA at the newly built athletic field.

Before the game there was a speech from our principal, Ms. Getto. There was a also speech from the Superintendent. Mr. Grogan and security staff were there to keep everyone safe throughout the game, as the new bleachers were full. By kickoff, only standing room was available. People were certainly there to see the newly built field, but most came for the action packed game.

The game started off with a Falcon touchdown from junior running back Ky’ere Tillery. CBA followed with touchdowns in the second quarter, ending with a halftime score of 14-7. Halftime entertainment was provided by the Albany High cheerleaders and from the school’s marching band.

Despite the Falcons’ promising start, CBA pulled away with 5 touchdowns in the third quarter. Still, the Falcons Nest was electric and full of excitement, especially during Albany’s final scoring drive where Tillery again found the endzone for 6 points.

After two hours of hard hits CBA came out with the win. They won 49-13. We’ll get them next time!
