With the recent release of the Nathan Drake Collection, there came a river of good memory. The Nathan Drake Collection remasters all three Uncharted games and puts them into one, masterful collection, reigniting the series, and preparing gamers for the next installment- Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End.

The Nathan Drake Collection includes the single-player campaigns for Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, and Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception. Remastered for the PlayStation 4 and taking advantage of newer technology, the games were bumped up to 1080p and 60 frames per second, from its previous 480p and 30 frames per second. But that’s not all of the visual enhancements. There is also an improvement on detail, textures, and shadows in the Nathan Drake Collection, allowing for a much more attractive and immersive experience.

The remaster continues with improvements such as the addition of new trophies (obtainable achievements that are awarded to the player for completing tasks) and Photo Mode (a cool tool that allows players to stop gameplay and “create”/edit their own, in-game photos).

For those who haven’t enjoyed the Uncharted series, this is certainly a must play. The games follow an adventurer named Nathan Drake who, during each of the three games, is in search of “treasures” that were wanted and sought, and even discovered, by past legendary explorers. In the first game, Nathan Drake is placed in South America and is following a treasure that the famous Sir Francis Drake left clues of behind. The sequel follows him to the Himalayan Mountains in an attempt to continue Marco Polo’s expedition and find the secret entrance to Shambhala (Shangri-La).  The third game sets you in numerous parts of the world, mostly areas of the Middle East, as you try to find the ancient and rumored lost city of Ubar. Each game puts Nathan Drake to the test, as he struggles between his own personal interests, his loved ones, and the moral of right and wrong, to make important decisions.

With great gameplay that allows for fun entertainment and a compelling story that impacts you emotionally, the Uncharted series is truly incredible.
