Breaking out of my niche, I’ve decided to write about one of my favorite books, Fahrenheit 451. This book’s got it all; fire, robots, murder, and even illicit activities. What’s not to love?
Some cursory exposition is in order. The novel is set in the future, where books are heresay and the title fireman has taken on an ironic perversion. Guy Montag is one of these firemen. His job is to annihilate all remnants of books in the hottest and coolest way possible: arson. In this future, books have been deemed useless due to their conflicting messages, and harboring them is an extreme offense that is punishable by death.
Who wouldn’t be a little interested in why books are so nefarious? So, out of curiousity, Guy smuggles a few books home and reads them, narrowly avoiding close calls along the way. As a result, this book is quite the intense thriller, riddled with many nail-bitting climaxes that keep you on the edge of your seat the whole way through.
All in all, even if you don’t have to read this book, you should. That’s how great this novel is.
