Whose love is on top? Beyoncé is on top of everything with her new album 4 that came out this past summer, on June 28. She has really made a strong comeback with songs like “Best Thing I Never Had”, “Love on Top” and “Run the World (Girls)”. The album was inspired by Beyoncé taking a year off to find herself. During a VEVO interview she said, ‘‘I never even realized I needed a year off and I never even realized, I don’t know how to take a year off’’. Her mother told her “you don’t want to look back on your life with no memories”, so Beyoncé followed her mother’s advice.
It seems her main focus for the album was to craft it well, so that it’s remembered for its quality. The choreography in the “Run the World” video was inspired by a YouTube sensation-dance group from Africa called Tofu Tofu. Tofu means “booty shaking” and when you listen to the upbeat rhythm of the song you can see why Beyoncé wanted the choreography from the group. The video was a success and to date it has over 104 million views on YouTube.
Other songs like “Party (Featuring J. Cole)”, and “Countdown” were also smash hit videos. “Countdown” has a 70’s feel to it and she has a lot of different styles in the video, yet it’s still a perfect love song. “1+1” has a slow melody, but Beyoncé makes the song timeless with her vocals and her glow. “Party” is definitely a song that makes you want to go to the club or dance with your iPod on. “Schoolin’ Life” is a bonus track on the deluxe edition of the album.
The sexy, fur, fierce album cover was shot in Paris. As as for the album title, the number 4 has been Beyoncé’s favorite number ever since she was a child. Her birthday is September 4th, her mother’s birthday is January 4th, and her husband’s birthday (Jay-Z) is December 4th. The 4th is also the anniversary date of her wedding.
If you know Beyoncé, you know that her music will make you want to dance and be fierce for sure. People enjoy her music because not only is she a beautiful inspiring woman, she also makes great songs that are very uplifting and will make you want to sing throughout the day. Beyoncé has really come a long way from her previous albums.
