Snow, cookies, hot chocolate- these are the things that come to my mind when I think about Christmas. Whether you think of these things too, or think of the winter sports like basketball, or of Christmas break, one thing that most people will become obsessed with either now or later are Christmas movies.

I know what you’re thinking, there are millions where do I start? Well here are three or my favorite Christmas movies that will get you into the Christmas spirit.

  1. Elf

This Christmas movie is a total classic, and amazing no matter how old you are! Buddy was supposedly raised as an elf and came from the North Pole to New York to find his father, Walter Hobbs. These two are completely that opposite seeing as Buddy is joyful “elf” and his supposed father is a serious businessman that has lots to do. This leads to painfully awkward and hilarious moments, this is only just referring to the moments between these two, you should see what happens when Buddy gets a job.  Not to mention Buddy’s “father” had his own family, which, don’t worry, were accepting to Buddy. Buddy’s North Pole culture was strange and Buddy was just Christmas in human form.

  1. Home Alone

Now this movie is less centered around Christmas, but takes place in that time frame. Kevin McCallister, at eight-years old was left alone by his family accidentally as they left for their Christmas vacation without him. He realizes robbers are planning to break into his house, and makes obstacles to keep them from succeeding. These traps seem like they come out of a cartoon, and this clever kid probably inspired a lot of young kids to believe they can do a lot for themselves at a young age, seeing that he tricked two robbers that were much older than him. All around this a great comedy, although it’s less a Christmas movie but with Christmas elements in the details of it.

  1.  A Charlie Brown Christmas

This may seem childish to some, but how could I not include this movie? It would be a betrayal to my childhood Christmas experience. Even if you haven’t seen this movie, you’ve probably heard about or seen other Charlie Brown movies.

Christmas time has come to the Peanuts clan. Charlie Brown is feeling glum, as he is most of the time. Charlie directs a Christmas play, as advised by Lucy to help increase his Christmas spirit. Charlie decides a Christmas tree is needed to make this a official Christmas play. This tree leads to the clan discovering the true meaning of Christmas, after they laughed at Charlie’s tree choice which he thought would look better would some decoration.
