Thor: The Dark World made its way to Theaters on October 22nd having Marvel fans ready for such an anticipated movie. It’s clear that 2013 was a spark for both the Marvel and DC universe.
After a dissapointing end in Iron Man 3, Marvel fans were desperately hoping this sequel wouldn’t come close. No spoilers today, but you can take a breather because Marvel did a much better job this go round.
Thor was good, but not jaw dropping. To all who heavily read comics, you will agree that The Dark World generally stuck well with content. The movie involves an ether of magical powers that can wake up an army of elves.
Long ago, a war with the Elves occurred and after a victorious fight for the people of Asgaurrd, the ether was hidden rather than destroyed to prevent the Elves from coming back. If you’re wondering whether the ether was found 5 minutes into the movie, the answer is yes. Predictable and poorly established pot? Absolutely. But hey, it did the trick.
The scenery and footage for the movie was decent. Graphics were impressive and action scenes were top notch. Many people disliked the first Thor movie because it didn’t show too much action. That’s typically how it’s like for any first series hero movie. After the second movie that shouldn’t be a complaint.
Comedy played a key role in the movie. Marvel must have hired a comedian to their crew because their recent releases have had the audience laugh quite a bit (or maybe it was because Disney owns Marvel now… who knows?). Unlike Iron Man 3 with a bit too much comedy, the jokes here were a good amount. There should have been a division between dark and bright moments, but there wasn’t. For a movie to be titled “The Dark World,” it’s slightly ironic how lively two thirds of the movie was.
Overall, the movie will definitely draw your attention. Great performances by both Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston. 7.5/10 stars!
