The first thing you notice as you walk in the room, is how loud it is. Noise is literally bouncing off the walls from the number of students in Mrs. Zebrowski’s room. You can tell how much energy the kids have. They put that energy to good use by helping people as members of Key Club.
Surprisingly, not many students know that Key Club is a volunteer organization for the betterment of the community. The students in this club organize activities with the help of Mrs. Melinda Zebrowski; who graciously agreed to be the advisor of the club after the previous one retired. Senior members, Kevin Ho and Kristan Uzhca, make a committed team that can get anything done when they put their minds to it.
Key Club puts together various activities that allow members to give back to the community. The students have shown their dedication by recently raising $250 to buy educational toys for children, with each member receiving $10 to buy a toy; supplying a portable nebulizer for The Animal Rights Group, and volunteering time at Washington Park to help set up for the annual Capitol Holiday Lights exhibition.
Key Club may have lost their original advisor but they didn’t lose their spirit. In the words of Kristan Uzcha, “It’s a great opportunity for students to get involved and give back to the community.” The Nest agrees with Kristan wholeheartedly and wishes Key Club good luck in preparation for their next charity project.
