This past Friday, October 23rd there was a showing of The Rocky Horror Picture Show, featuring the live shadow cast “The Kids of Albany” at the Palace Theater on Clinton Avenue.

The Rocky Horror Picture Show is a 1975 film combining music, comedy, and horror about two sweethearts Brad and Janet, played by Barry Bostwick and Susan Sarandon.

The couple get a flat tire during a storm and come upon a convention of strange people from Transylvania, hosted at the eerie mansion of Dr.Frank N. Furter, a transvestite scientist played by Tim Curry.  There are elaborate dance numbers throughout the film, and Furter unveils his latest creation, a muscular man named Rocky.

The movie has since been made into a stage production, and encourages audience participation. During the show, you are allowed to bring props, such as rice, water pistols , confetti, toast without butter, flashlights, rubber gloves, party poppers, party hats, noisemakers newspapers, and playing cards.

Everyone needs to experience the film, or attended a live showing at least once.  This year the performance was amazing. The entire crowd was on their feet and dancing for “The Time Warp”. The prop bags even had bird seed and a piece of toast.  You’ll have to watch the movie to find out why! Happy Halloween.
