Albany High’s Blood Drive: October 15th

Osama Ali, Editor-in-Chief

Albany High’s first blood drive of the year will be held on Thursday, October 15th in the Rubber Gym from 8 AM to 2:15 PM.

Anyone 16 or older is free to donate, 16 year olds however need a signed permission slip. Permission slips and other general information brochures are located in the library, be sure to schedule a time as well (slots are limited!). Also feel free to talk to Mrs. Abdul or Liz John if you have any questions. There is also a Remind 101 (text @ahsblood at 81010) and a Twitter account (@AHSRedCross518) for updates and information.

On the day of the drive, make sure you are well rested and hydrated! In the week before, make sure to eat iron-rich foods like red meat, poultry, grains, and fruits and vegetables. You can also check out the Red Cross’ website to make sure you meet eligibility requirements here.

One donation has the potential to save up to 3 lives! Healthy males are also highly encouraged to give a double-red donation. The need for blood is constant and every single donor makes a difference! Anyone who donates will receive a free Red Cross t-shirt, and snacks and refreshments will be provided.
