The budget for the 2015-2016 school year passed on May 19th with a 72 percent majority vote. Both proposition 2 and 3 were also approved.

Proposition 2 includes the construction of a new turf field on campus, as well as drainage and parking improvements to the existing athletic fields. The turf field would become the site of all home football, soccer, and lacrosse games.

The turf field will be located adjacent to Washington Avenue and will replace the current grass field. The total cost for Proposition 2 is approximately $2.5 million.

Proposition 3 centers around building improvements for 14 of the districts schools. Among them is Albany High, which will see repairs to the exterior pool wall and pool equipment.

Proposition 3’s repairs are a total of $13.9 million. Other buildings covered by Proposition 3 are Abrookin, ASH, Eagle Point, Arbor Hill, Academy Park, and North Albany Academy.

The full cost of these proposed changes will be covered by the Capital Reserve Fund and State Aid.  There will be no change in taxes for Albany residents.
