Dennis Rodman, the basketball player well known for his visits to North Korea, entered an alcohol-rehabilitation center after another recent visit. What exactly is going on?
According to his agent, Darron Prince, Rodman has been drinking so frequently that it led to a point where his behavior changed. After a sit and talk, it was decided that Roman would enter rehab for a 28 or 30 day facility starting on Wednesday.
The question that arises here is where the heavy alcohol consumption had anything to do with the visit to North Korea. North Korea, being one of the most restrictive governments, has been under Roman’s defense since his first visit.
Months back, Rodman told George Stephanopoulos on Good Morning America that North Korea’s leader, Kim Jung Un, isn’t as bad as he’s portrayed to be and that he would like to make peace with Obama. Rodman even claims that Kim Jung Un would like for Obama to give him a call. This was obviously not taken seriously.
Many people believe that Rodman’s visits to North Korea is actually a good thing as he uses basketball, a similar interest between the two nations, to peacefully unite the two and give the people of North Korea a different, more positive view towards the United States. Other people like Senator John McCain look at the issue entirely different stating, “I think he’s an idiot.”
It wouldn’t be a surprise if Rodman’s drinking problem was linked to North Korea or if it’s because of all the pressure he’s receiving from the media. Either way, it’s best wished he’ll recover. One thing is for certain though, this won’t be the last time he’s across the globe.
